Briefs: A by Adina expands into Europe; Radisson adds in Riyadh

A BY ADINA EXPANDS INTO EUROPE: TFE Hotels, the Australian hospitality company, is set to introduce it’s A by Adina brand in Europe. Three years after the premium brand was launched in Australia, A by Adina will be debuting in Austria with the opening of A by Adina Vienna Danube in 2025. Situated within the DANUBEFLATS tower in Vienna’s riverfront Asli area, the flagship hotel will feature 108 apartments ranging from studio to two-bedroom units. The hotel will include a bar, cocktail lounge and restaurant with a terrace overlooking the Danube River. The hotel will have a wellness area on the fourth floor, with a gym, Pilates/yoga room, two saunas, quiet room, wellness bar and a heated infinity pool. Local owner/developers S+B Gruppe and Soravia along with BWM Designers & Architects are leading the hotel’s architecture and design. A by Adina’s expansion into Europe comes as TFE’s joint venture partner, TOGA Group, marks a brand milestone in Australia with the NSW government approving confirmation for the construction of the 204-key A by Adina Sydney Central, which is part of the innovation district, Tech Central.

RADISSON ADDS IN RIYADH: Radisson Hotel Group has expanded its Middle East portfolio with the opening of Radisson Hotel & Residence Riyadh Olaya, marking the group’s 28th hotel in Saudi Arabia and the ninth in Riyadh. Located in the Al Yasmin suburb, the new hotel features 201 rooms, a full-service restaurant, lobby lounge, separate fitness centers for men and women, a pool, spa, kids club and 500 square meters of meeting space.

SONESTA EXECUTES 15 FRANCHISE AGREEMENTS: Sonesta International Hotels Corp. has executed 15 franchise agreements in the first quarter across several brands, including The James, Sonesta ES Suites, Sonesta Essential, Americas Best Value Inn, Red Lion Hotels, Red Lion Inn & Suites and Sonesta Hotels & Resorts. The additions add more than 1,900 keys in the first quarter and provides new destinations for members to earn and redeem stays through the loyalty program, Sonesta Travel Pass. Sonesta’s portfolio includes 1,100 properties totaling 100,000 rooms under 15 brands across eight countries.

IMAGE HOTELS ACQUIRES IN S.C.: Image Hotels has acquired the Courtyard by Marriott North Charleston Airport/Coliseum in North Charleston, S.C. Other details of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition helps the Savannah, Ga.-based Image Hotels to grow its presence in South Carolina. Situated close to Charleston International Airport, the hotel features a bistro restaurant, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, business center, courtyard area and two meeting rooms. 

HOLIDAY INN RESORT IN JAPAN: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement in Japan with Japanese construction and real estate development company Kajima Corp. to open ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa in 2025. This is IHG’s first agreement in a mid- to long-term development partnership in Japan with Kajima. ANA Holiday Inn Resort will be located an hour and half from the Tokyo Station and set in the Asama wilderness. The hotel will consist of 100 rooms, two pet-friendly villas, a restaurant, an indoor pool, a natural hot spring and a gym. The ground adjacent to the hotel will have a ski slope and an 18-hole golf course. The hotel, which currently operates as President Resort Karuizawa, will undergo extensive renovation and rebranding to reopen as the Holiday Inn resort in Q1 2025. When it opens, it will be the 10th Holiday Inn hotel in Japan and fourth Holiday Inn resort in the country. It will also be IHG’s second hotel in Karuizawa. Currently, IHG has 55 open or pipeline hotels across Japan.
