21C MUSEUM OPENS IN ST. LOUIS: 21c Museum Hotels has announced the opening of 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis, located in downtown St. Louis, Mo. 21c Museum Hotels worked with architects Perfido Weiskopf Wagstaff + Goettal and interior designers from Hufft Projects and Bill Rooney Studio to restore a 95-year-old, 10-story building and reimagine it into a contemporary hotel. The Renaissance Revival-style YMCA building now consists of 173 rooms featuring exclusive artworks from artists who have ties to Missouri and 14,000 square feet of museum exhibition space. The hotel also includes more than 10,500 square feet of athletic and wellness spaces, a coffee shop and a restaurant led by Chef Matthew Daughaday. The historic building’s former fitness track and gymnasium will be converted into public and meeting spaces. The hotel opens with three contemporary group exhibitions, which are presented in the museum galleries and public spaces on the first and second floors.Â

MARRIOTT SIGNS EDITION IN CHINA: Marriott International, Inc. has announced it will be launching the EDITION Hotels brand in Dali in Southwestern China. Marriott has signed an agreement with New Development Group to open The Dali EDITION. This will be the brand’s third hotel in China. The hotel is expected to open in December 2025. Situated on a hillside area up the Cangshan Mountain, The Dali EDITION will have 150 rooms, including suites and villas with private pools. The property’s interiors will be designed by Shenzhen Cheng Chung Design. The hotel will feature four signature restaurants and bars, a pool, a fitness center, spa and event spaces, including a 600-square-meter outdoor lawn. The signing will help Marriott grow its luxury portfolio in Greater China, where it currently has around 70 luxury properties. Currently, EDITION operates 16 hotels worldwide.
CRESCENT ADDS TO LIFESTYLE DIVISION: Crescent Hotels & Resorts has added the Grand Bay Hotel San Francisco to its Latitudes: Lifestyles by Crescent portfolio. The hotel features 421 rooms, a 24-hour fitness center, a heated outdoor pool, an in-house restaurant and 200,000 square feet of event space. Currently, Crescent’s management portfolio includes more than 120 properties across the U.S. and Canada.
PREVIEW OF MONDRIAN IBIZA: Mondrian, part of Ennismore, will open Mondrian Ibiza for eight weeks for a brief preview in Cala Llonga. The preview comes ahead of its scheduled opening in 2024. The 154-room hotel marks Mondrian’s debut in Spain. Mondrian has worked with Spanish design studios Beades Architects and Cuarto Interior for the hotel’s architecture and interiors. Many rooms feature balconies, and the hotel has three onside pools. Artwork is a significant part of the guest experience. Gone Rogue, the art curation and consultant collective, has selected a collection of artwork for the property and will also curate a rolling exhibition space in the lobby to showcase the works of local artists.
