Wyndham’s Baymont makes Asia-Pacific debut

Baymont by Wyndham has entered the Asia-Pacific region with the opening of Baymont Kunming Wuhua. The debut marks the brand’s first property outside the Americas and expands Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ presence in China.

The opening reflects the company’s focus on the midscale segment in the region as travel demand continues to grow. Baymont has more than 550 properties in North America, and the new Kunming hotel becomes the brand’s first in Asia Pacific.

“Baymont hotels are more than a place to stay—they’re a promise of comfort, familiarity, and community. The debut in Asia Pacific marks an exciting new chapter for the brand, one that combines heartfelt hospitality with a proven, scalable model for owners and is poised to help fuel further growth across the region’s thriving midscale market,” said Joon Aun OOI, president, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Baymont Kunming Wuhua is located within an area that combines business, cultural activity and leisure access. It sits near Yunnan Wildlife Park and Cuihu Park. The property has 92 guestrooms with flat-screen HDTVs, coffee and tea makers, minibars and workspaces.

Amenities at the hotel include Wi-Fi, onsite parking and fitness facilities. The property also offers breakfast service. For meetings and events, the hotel provides 300 square meters of space across two venues that can accommodate up to 180 guests for conferences or 150 for banquets.

The opening of Baymont Kunming Wuhua positions the brand within a destination that continues to attract domestic and regional travel while adding to Wyndham’s portfolio in China.
