Accor has kick-started a recruitment drive for over 1,000 career opportunities in almost all of its 400 hotels in New Zealand and Australia. Among the incentives to drive the program are travel allowance for some locations, accommodation on arrival for some locations, and the opportunity to shadow an Accor Executive.
The hotel operator is also working on a new internship recruitment drive – Accor Internship Program – and is working with 22 hospitality institutions across New Zealand and Australia to provide on the job training to 100 students.
These roles, which are mostly applied for via hospitality, travel and tourism higher education institutions, are fully paid internships. This will give students the opportunity to broaden their skills and experience across operations, administration, and food and beverage. Students will receive similar perks to the broader recruitment effort, as well as the opportunity to shadow an Accor executive and masterclass with Accor Pacific CEO Simon McGrath.
“This is a rapidly returning sector and we are now recruiting for roles at most of our hotels, apartments and resorts across the Pacific. It is an opportunity to create dramatic positive change by bringing in great talent that will enrich our industry’s future forever,” McGrath said.
Through its ‘Work your Way’ initiative, Accor’s training academy will tutor and provide learning experiences to assist team members in their roles and support their career development.
All internships will be in place by end of July and job vacancies will be filled on a continual basis.
“We believe that we have a responsibility to identify, inspire and train people to become the next generation of hoteliers,” McGrath said. “We will use this opportunity to advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion, by bringing people into our industry with a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences. People with different points of view from every culture, race, religion, gender and age group because the more diverse our teams experiences and skills, the better the outcome.”
