2 hotels aim to break moon cake world record

To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the culinary teams at the Parkside Plaza at Changfeng and Shanghai Marriott Hotel Changfeng Park prepared a giant lotus-seed paste moon cake at the Parkside Plaza at Changfeng. This “moon cake” attempted to break the Guinness World Record by weighing in at 2.4964 tonnes (5,504 lbs) and having a diameter of 2.57 meters (8.43 feet).

More than 500 guests and media attended the witness ceremony for the cake last week. Three official notaries from Shanghai Putuo Notary Public Office and one engineer from Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology were present to certify the event.

The moon cake is expected to break the current world record, which was set in Toronto in 2001.
