Conrad Brickell sale, reno: Miami’s Conrad Brickell Downtown, just sold for US$72 million by Holborn LC to Mast Capital, will undergo a renovation. HEI Hotels & Resorts of Connecticut will manage the 203-room hotel, which will remain a Conrad.

Prince Edward development: Local developer Tim Banks plans a C$30 million resort at Tracadie Harbour on Prince Edward Island. The development would include a 20-unit hotel with eight semi-detached units and a 41-lot subdivision.

Dominican resorts sold: Playa Hotels & Resorts N.V. closed on the purchase of the 750-key property for the new Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana and Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The acquisition price for the 40-acre site was not named.

Wasting away, again and again: Two resorts will be rebranded by Margaritaville Holdings and Driftwood Acquisitions & Development: the 500-room Tan-Tar-A Resort in central Missouri and the 120-room Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa in Costa Rica. Tan-Tar-A was recently acquired by Driftwood and partner Sefira Capital of Miami. Flamingo Beach has been owned by Costa Rica-based Hotelera Playa Flamingo SA and managed by Driftwood Hospitality Management since 2003.

 


Grandparents trump travel ban: A U.S. federal judge ruled yesterday that the Trump administration’s temporary ban on travelers from six mostly Muslim countries should not keep grandparents and other close relatives from entering the U.S. to see family. He also ruled that refugees who had relationships with resettlement agencies were eligible to enter the country.

High Hampton handed over: The High Hampton Inn in North Carolina was sold to Arlington Family Offices and Daniel Communities by the McKee family, which opened the property in 1922. Daniel Communities will manage the property, which includes a hotel and 1,050 acres of golf course and other real estate assets.
