Chef Geoffrey Zakarian has been named culinary director of The Plaza in New York City. Under Zakarian’s guidance, The Palm Court, The Oak Room & The Oak Bar, The Rose Club, The Champagne Bar and in-room dining will be reimagined. The rollout of the venues will begin in the first quarter of 2014.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this historic landmark,” said Zakarian. “I plan on creating an authentic experience for New Yorkers and visitors that will capture the timeless glamour of The Plaza.”
The announcement of Zakarian’s appointment was made by Hampshire Hotels Management, the manager of food and beverage at The Plaza.
The news marks the second big appointment of the week for the New York icon as earlier this week George Cozonis was appointed the hotel’s new managing director. Cozonis was most recently general manager of W South Beach, in Miami Beach, Florida.
