Whetsell jumps off the Virgin hotel voyage

Paul Whetsell’s stay with Virgin Hotels was short lived as Tuesday Bloomberg reported the 61-year-old industry veteran was named CEO of the 18-hotel Loews Hotels brand, New York City. Whetsell was executive director of Virgin Hotels for just over a year.

“I view his coming on board as a great opportunity for me to have a partner as we move forward and look at the challenges in today’s lodging industry, but also the opportunities,” Loews Hotels Chairman Jonathan Tisch told Blooomberg.

Whetsell added that he will focus on making acquisitions in major markets.
