The St. Regis Aspen has completed a US$40 million redesign of its interior and exterior.
For the project, designer Lauren Rottet came up with a “mountain manor” concept similar to what John Jacob Astor might have designed in the Gilded Age.
The resort features a new library with a fireplace, sofas and bookshelves. A grand staircase leads down from the lobby to the lower level ballrooms; the resort’s 25,000 square feet (2,323 square meters) of event space have a “grand salon” style with antique mirrors, tufted sofas, and walls and millwork painted to emphasize the traditional moldings.
The lobby level has a new catering venue, and the resort will open a new restaurant in June. Chefs Club will feature rotating menus by chefs from the Food & Wine Classic and a wine and cocktail list by the editors of “Food & Wine.” This year’s crop of best new chefs will introduce a menu in November 2012.
The resort’s 15,000 sq ft (1,394 sq m) Remède Spa will launch a “farm to massage table” menu of spa services including a warming scalp massage, a hot stone massage, a glass of sparking wine, and a chocolate body facial.
