What’s Hot: Modern yet classic British fare at Dukes London

Thirty-Six by Nigel Mendham has debuted at Dukes London, the 90-key hotel located in a private courtyard near Green Park and Buckingham Palace.

Mendham’s menu aims to present modern British cuisine with a classical twist that showcases — rather than overwhelms — seasonal, local ingredients. First courses on the debut menu include scallops with cauliflower, smoked eel and horseradish; main courses include Highland venison with butternut fondant, osso bucco and bacon spatzle; and desserts include carrot cake with liquid carrot, iced cream cheese and spiced walnut.

The 36-seat restaurant was designed in a classic yet contemporary style by U.K. designer Shaun Clarkson.

Warm tones of gold, black and orange abound at Thirty-Six by Nigel Mendham, named for the number symbolizing good luck in Chinese astrology, the symbol of the magic square of the sun, as well as the hotel's address on Little St. James. Photos used courtesy of Dukes London.
