W London sells for $307 million

Al Faisal Holding, owned by Qatari royal family member Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, bought the W London Leicester Square hotel from U.K. developer McAleer & Rushe for US$307 million (£200 million) on Wednesday.

The 192-room hotel was put up for sale by McAleer & Rushe, which had US$93 million (£61 million) worth of mortgage loans bought by the National Asset Management Agency in the aftermath of the Irish property bubble, one month before it opened in February.

The property also includes the 35,000 sq ft (3,251 sq m) M&M’s store. It is located on the corner of Leicester Square and Wardour Street in central London.
