Tryp by Wyndham hotel brand debuts in Colombia

MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA The Tryp by Wyndham brand makes its debut in Colombia with the opening of the 140-key Tryp Medellín.

It is the 14th hotel in South America for the upscale select-service brand jointly operated by Wyndham Hotel Group and Meliá International Hotels, joining properties in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

The 14-story Tryp Medellín is located in the heart of the Colombia state of Antioquia’s capital city. The hotel’s opening reflects Wyndham’s strategy of introducing the brand in key urban markets throughout the Americas.

“Colombia is a fast-growing travel destination for both business and leisure travelers, offering booming business hubs and sought-after attractions in key destinations,” says Daniel del Olmo, brand senior vice president of Tryp by Wyndham.

The hotel includes an onsite fitness center, Turkish bath, solarium and sauna. The hotel also offers complimentary Internet access, a business center and bar. The hotel’s restaurant offers Tryp’s signature buffet breakfast. Four function rooms comprising more than 300 sq. m are equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and can accommodate up to 400 people.

The brand’s second Colombia property, Tryp Bogotá, is slated to open in the fourth quarter. The first North America Tryp will debut this summer with the 173-key Tryp New York City Times Square South.
