The dark side: Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte to open chocolate ‘experience’

The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte in North Carolina will open Bar Cocoa on September 30, a venue the hotel promises will present a “sophisticated, all-new chocolate and cocoa experience.”

Signature offerings will include daily Chocolate Afternoon Tea featuring menu items such as chocolate-mint truffle tea blending Rooibos herbal tea, chocolate cacao nibs and mint; a weekly five-course Chocolate and Champagne Dinner; and culinary classes in the adjoining Cocoa Lab.

Pastry Chef Josh Cain even created a 5-foot (1.5-meter) Madam Cocoa chocolate stature to perch atop a pedestal in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge to beckon guests to indulge in all things chocolate.
