Swiss Int’l aims for South Asia expansion

Swiss International Hotels & Resorts, Gland, Switzerland, announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with Rockwood Associates, Portland, Oregon, to be its representative to expand in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

As part of the agreement Rockwood will set up a development and management office in New Delhi.

“We will target new build hotels and conversions in primary, secondary and tertiary markets and seek hotel owners who believe in the well-known characteristics of quality, reliability and service associated with Swiss hospitality standards. We are also in preliminary discussions with some institutional funds and hotel chain owners to partner with us as we establish Swiss International Hotels in India,” said Anupam Narayan, Rockwood Associates chairman.

Earlier in January, Swiss International announced its expansion into China where the first hotel is expected to open in April. Swiss International currently has 30 hotels under contract in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
