Sternlicht, Lomanno, others bet big on social media

Some big names in the U.S. hotel industry are getting behind a provider of business intelligence from social media customer feedback.

On Thursday newBrandAnalytics, Washington, D.C., closed US$26 million in Series B financing to further accelerate the company’s rapid growth. Among the investors were Barry Sternlicht of Starwood Capital and Neil Shah, president and COO of Hersha Hospitality Trust.

It also announced Thursday that Mark Lomanno, who just left STR Global, is joining the company as an active board member to develop strategies, create and enhance new customer satisfaction research solutions and, perhaps most importantly, build relationships with hospitality brands, owners and operators.

The other investors include New Enterprise Associates, with participation from Revolution Ventures (Steve Case & Tige Savage), Jeff Webber’s The Entrepreneur’s Fund, Quest Hospitality Ventures and Ted Leonsis.

“The Internet is becoming a giant customer survey and as this new feedback channel emerges, we will use this capital to further accelerate our growth and to ensure the delivery of the market’s most powerful solutions to our customers,” said Neil Kataria, co-founder of newBrandAnalytics.
