Starwood announced that it will open a new W Hotel on The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2016.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Stamford, Connecticut, signed an agreement with Al Sharq Investment, Dubai, to manage the 283-room property. A W Hotel was originally announced for The Palm Jumeirah in 2006 but was put on hold. Another W Hotel was announced for Dubai Festival City, but has also been delayed.
“This signing marks an important milestone in our overall growth strategy to expand the W brand in primary cities throughout the Middle East including Doha, Amman, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai,” said Roeland Vos, Starwood’s EMEA president.
Starwood operates 15 hotels in Dubai, representing the largest concentration of Starwood hotels in any single city outside of New York.
