COLOMBO Sri Lanka’s state-owned Bank of Ceylon is seeking an international hotel chain to manage its 173-year-old Grand Oriental Hotel, a 200-key landmark that overlooks the Port of Colombo.
The bank wants an international brand for the historic property and a management group that has past experience managing international heritage hotels. It is accepting applications through November 20, Lanka Business Online reports.
The hotel will require a significant renovation, the bank says. “The interested parties should agree to invest to bring back the hotel to its original condition but with modern facilities.”
