Russian billionaire to buy Dublin hotel

The Irish Times reported on Saturday that the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) is set to sell Morrison Hotel, located in central Dublin, to one of Russia’s richest women.

Yelena Baturina, the wife of former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, is one of Russia’s few female billionaires and is on the bidding shortlist for the 4-star, 141-room lifestyle hotel, situated along the River Liffey. The amount of the sale will reported be between €20 million and €25 million (US$25.5 million to US$31.6 million). The couple own an apartment in London, where their two daughters reportedly attend school.

Irish hotel and pub developer Hugh O’Regan previously owned Morrison Hotel. It was placed into receivership in 2010.
