Robinson launches hospitality program in Houston

Former NBA star David Robinson announced the launch of Admiral Hospitality Scholars, a program that will provide Houston high school students with a pathway to a degree and career in the hospitality industry.

The program is aligned with Robinson’s goal for the Admiral Capital Group, which is to give 10% of all profits back to the local communities. The program is being launched with the support of Hilton Worldwide, McLean, Virginia, The University of Houston’s Hilton College and American Liberty Hospitality.

Beginning July 8, 24 Houston students will kick-off the inaugural program with a three-day hospitality camp at the University of Houston’s Hilton College to gain hands-on hospitality experience. Additionally, program participants will receive a one-year internship with a local Hilton Worldwide-branded hotel managed by American Liberty Hospitality, a mentor with a hospitality professional, financial support towards a hospitality degree.

“This is an extraordinary partnership and is exactly what we hope to do in every city where we invest,” said David Robinson.

Although Robinson became famous playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Houston was selected as the first city for this program because of Admiral’s purchase of the 190-room Hilton Garden Inn Energy Corridor in Houston, which will participate in the internship program.
