Riu Hotels & Resorts, Mallorca, Spain, announced it has entered into a contract to purchase a plot in Manhattan near Times Square to build Riu Plaza New York Times Square.
The 5-star property, expected to open in mid-2015, will have more than 600 guestrooms, a restaurant, bar, to-go café, gym, executive lounge and wireless Internet access throughout the hotel. Located at Eighth Avenue and 46th Street, it will have proximity to Broadway theaters, Restaurant Row, Central Park, Carnegie Hall and luxury shopping on Fifth Avenue.
