Ritz-Carlton issues first branded credit card

CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. is issuing a branded credit card for the first time.

The Ritz-Carlton Rewards American Express card is backed by J.P. Morgan.

“As with The Ritz-Carlton Rewards program, this new card offers access to the extraordinary,” says Ritz-Carlton President Herve Humler. “The extensive research we conducted with J.P. Morgan showed there is an appetite for a luxury card to reward our loyal customers and introduce the brand to many new potential guests.”

The card offers benefits at Ritz-Carlton properties, including club level upgrades for three stays per year, up to US$100 toward hotel experiences and Gold Elite status in The Ritz-Carlton Rewards program. Other travel-related features include J.P. Morgan Premier Concierge Service, complimentary airport lounge access and up to a US$200 airline incidental credit annually.

The card, which has no foreign transaction fees, will also earn Ritz-Carlton Rewards points with every purchase. Users gain five points per dollar spent at Ritz-Carlton properties, and one or two points per dollar for other purchases.

The annual fee for the card is US$395.
