People on the Move: Remington, Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Wyndham

Remington Hotels, Dallas, Texas, has welcomed Amanda Gray as chief human resources officer. Bringing over 20 years of experience to her new role, Gray will be responsible for crafting a unified human capital vision across all Ashford portfolio companies, including Remington, Inspire, Red Hospitality and Leisure, OpenKey, Premier, and Pure Wellness. She will oversee efforts across the enterprise to attract, retain, and develop a guest-centric team to continue growth and ensure company culture, mission, and values are embedded throughout the organization to deliver memorable guest experiences.

Before joining Remington, Gray worked at Four Seasons Americas as Vice President of People and Culture, working with all hotels and resorts in North and South America. Before her time at Four Seasons, Gray worked as Vice President of Talent Management for The Michaels Companies, Inc., where she cultivated best-in-class programs to support recruiting, talent management, succession planning, organization design, culture enrichment, team member engagement, total rewards, learning and development, and diversity and inclusion.

Corporate Management

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG), Charlestown, South Carolina, has appointed Christopher Amato to the newly created position of director of culture. Amato has been with IRHG since 2015, most recently serving as general manager of the O-Ku Atlanta, Georgia.

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, Austin, Texas, announced that Carson Booth will join as chief operations officer. Most recently, he worked as chief operations officer of a U.K. hospitality payments startup and as chief executive officer of SnapShot, a Shiji Group brand, Beijing, China.

Hotel Equities, Alpharetta, Georgia, has promoted Corbin Tipton to regional director of business development – Western Region. Prior to his promotion, Tipton worked on Hotel Equity’s Business Development Team in the U.S. and Canada.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Parsippany, New Jersey, has promoted Shilpan Patel to executive vice president, North America franchise operations, and Gustavo Viescas to president, LATAMC, and elevated both to the company’s executive committee. Patel has held various finance, operations and franchise service leadership positions throughout his nearly 20 years at Wyndham, most recently responsible for leading its contract administration and relicensing efforts while driving industry-leading economy retention rates across its brands. Viescas has held multiple roles of increasing responsibility over his past 25 years with Wyndham leading the finance, administration, reporting, planning and operations for both RCI and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

General Managers and Managing Directors

Park Hyatt New York has appointed Laurent Ebzant as general manager. He previously served as general manager of the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead, Georgia, has named Juan González Izquierdo as general manager. González Izquierdo brings more than 19 years of experience with luxury hotel brands, including Conrad New York Downtown, The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton and The Peninsula.

Reuben Kataria has joined as general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru, Bengaluru, India. Previously, he held a stint as opening general manager at Leela Hotel & Residences Bhartiya City, also in Bengaluru.

Chaminade Resort & Spa, Santa Cruz, California, welcomed Doug Lord as general manager. Lord was most recently the regional vice president West of Great Wolf Lodge, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

The Anam Group, Cam Ranh, Vietnam, has announced three senior recruitments: Laurent Myter as general manager, Martin Koerner as commercial director and Ye Chang Sheng (Peter) as resort manager of The Anam Mui Ne. Myter worked at YTL Hotels, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, most recently serving as executive vice president operations. Koerner returns to the Anam Group after helping to establish Optimum Hospitality, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and was also Alma Resort Cam Ranh’s commercial director for almost two years. Chang Sheng worked as the Anam Group’s executive assistant manager at Anam Cam Ranh.

Centara, Bangkok, Thailand, has selected Shigeki Nakagawa as general manager for Centara Grand Hotel Osaka, Japan. Most recently, Nakagawa served as executive assistant manager at ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kobe, Japan.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Hyatt’s inaugural Andaz-branded luxury and lifestyle resort in Thailand, has welcomed Ranjeet Rajebhosale as general manager. Most recently, he was general manager of Hyatt Regency Liberation Square Chongqing, China. He will be supported by Anna Rhee, who has been appointed executive assistant manager – rooms. Most recently, she served on the pre-opening team for Hyatt Regency Nha Trang in Vietnam.

La Concha Resort and Condado Ocean Club, San Juan, Puerto Rico, has selected new general managers: Miguel Rivera in La Concha Resort and Carlo Chávez in Condado Ocean Club. Rivera was the vice president of operations for The Condado Collection, while Chávez most recently served as director of hotel operations at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, Scottsdale, Arizona, has hired Matthew Vandegrift as general manager. Previously, he held the same role at Trump International Hotel & Tower New York.

Operations

Grand Hyatt Vail, Colorado, has appointed Carrie Clay as director of operations. Clay most recently served as assistant director of operations, food and beverage and rooms at Hyatt Regency Seattle, Washington.

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, Scottsdale, Arizona, has hired Thomas Overton IV as director of rooms. Overton previously worked as the director of housekeeping/senior rooms manager at The Phoenician Resort, also in Scottsdale.

Food & Beverage

Paséa Hotel & Spa Huntington Beach, California, has appointed Johnathan Benvenuti as chef de cuisine. Chef Benvenuti previously worked at Broadway by Amar Santana, Orange County, California.

Rosewood Bermuda has announced that Gary Cook will serve as the property’s new executive head chef. Cook has around 30 years of experience working across the U.K. and Bermuda with luxury hotels.

Grand Hyatt Vail, Colorado, has appointed Pascal Coudouy as executive chef. Previously, Coudouy earned expertise as the owner, operator and executive chef at Gore Range Brewery in Edwards, Colorado.

Chris Flint has been appointed as culinary director of Château du Sureau, Oakhurst, California. Before joining, Flint was the executive chef at Fellow restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Savannah, Georgia, has welcomed Dan Herget as executive chef. Most recently, Herget worked at The Standard Spa Miami Beach, Florida.

Alexis Movio has been selected as the director of food and beverage at Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Thailand. He has worked at Ritz-Carlton properties in Sanya and Mandarin Oriental in Shanghai, plus the Michelin-starred restaurant, Opera Bombana Beijing, China. Vincenzo Gatti will be joining him as executive chef. Gatti has extensive experience in Hyatt brands, having worked at Park Hyatt Guangzhou, China, Grand Hyatt Seoul, South Corea, and Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, Thailand.

Thomas Robertson has been appointed food and beverage director of Mesler Chicago restaurant at SOPHY Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois. Most recently, Robertson was senior food and beverage manager, banquets and events at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

Thompson Playa del Carmen, Mexico, has welcomed Osamu Roman as executive chef. He joins from Grupo RosaNegra, Cancun, Mexico, where he served as corporate chef.

Alex Stratta has been selected to lead the culinary program at Fairmont Phoenix, Arizona. Previously, Stratta partnered with Genuine Concepts to open Campo Italian Eatery, Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Allison Inn & Spa, Willamette Valley, Oregon, has selected Jack Strong as executive chef. Most recently, Strong held the position of executive chef at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, Scottsdale, Arizona, has hired Charles Stuart as director of food and beverage. Previously, Stuart was director of catering and conference services at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, San Diego, California.

NCG Hospitality, Wisconsin, has announced two new hires to lead sales efforts for The Trade Hotel Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Samantha Sullivan, as director of sales and Emily Rauber, as senior sales manager. Sullivan joined from the Marcus Hotel & Resorts area sales team. Rauber most recently served as the director of sales for The Brewhouse Inn & Suites in Milwaukee.

Sales & Marketing

NoMo SoHo, New York City, has chosen Mirian Ortega-Calle as director of sales and marketing. She previously served in the same role at Le Méridien New York, Central Park.

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has promoted William Stratton to director of sales and marketing. Previously, Stratton served as the director of group sales at the property.

Sunny Yu has been appointed director of sales and marketing of Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Thailand. She has spent most of the last decade with IHG’s corporate offices in both Shanghai and Bangkok, where she held roles in loyalty marketing, global sales effectiveness and commercial marketing.

Other

Ewan Knowles has been appointed director of engineering of Grand Hyatt Vail, Colorado. Prior to joining, Knowles served as the senior director of engineering at the Four Seasons Resort Lana’i, Hawaii.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach, Thailand, has named Thanate Likhittumrongkawin director of finance. Previously, Likhittumrongkawin worked at the Hyatt Regency Phuket, Thailand. Dollarpapat Sookmuang has joined as director of human resources. She most recently worked at Park Hyatt Maldives. Kriengkrai Chongkhanpond was selected as director of engineering. Most recently, Chongkhanpond worked on the launch of Hyatt Regency Koh Samui, Thailand.

The InterContinental Mark Hopkins, San Francisco, California, has welcomed Nicole Schafer as the hotel’s new director of catering and conference services. Previously, she was director of catering sales at the Green Hills Country Club, Millbrae, California.
