Steigenberger to expand in China:  Steigenberger Hotel Group signed an agreement to open a 200-room Steigenberger-branded hotel in Taizhou in the top twelve stories of the 300 m (984 ft) City Towers.

 


Meliá to expand in Colombia:  Meliá Hotels International signed an agreement with Baskaribeña de Servicios and Promotora Karmairi to open the adults-only 154-room Meliá Cartagena de Indias in Q1 2017.

Stonebridge developing hotel in San Francisco:  Stonebridge Corp. is developing a 225-room hotel at 701 Third Street.

Sahara India Pariwar allowed to sell hotels:  India’s Supreme Court is allowing Sahara India Pariwar to sell its overseas hotel properties, which include New York City’s The Plaza and London’s The Grosvenor Hotel. However, the company’s chairman Subrata Roy was not allowed bail and will have to negotiate the sale while in custody.

Russia to allow gambling in Sochi, Crimea:  Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a new law that will establish a gambling zone in the Krasnodar territory, which includes Sochi, and the recently annexed Crimea territory.
