Marriott reports earnings: Marriott International reported a net income totaling US$207 million for Q1 2015, a 20% increase over Q1 2014. North American comparable systemwide constant dollar RevPAR rose 6.9% during the first quarter.

Host reports earnings: Host Hotels & Resorts reported comparable RevPAR on a constant-dollar basis improved 3.8% for Q1 2015, driven by rate growth of 4.8%. Net income decreased US$81 million to US$104 million for the quarter, as the increase in operations was offset by a decrease in gains on asset sales of US$108 million.

Disney purchases Carousel Inn: The Walt Disney Co. purchased Carousel Inn & Suites in Orange, California, for US$32 million.

Hilton brings Embassy brand to China: Hilton Worldwide signed a management agreement with Syncept Investment Group Co. for Embassy by Hilton Bo’ao in China. This will be the first Embassy by Hilton to be signed in the Asia Pacific.

Swissôtel adds Istanbul hotel: Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has entered into an agrement with Garanti Koza to manage Swissôtel KozaPark Istanbul. The project is slated to open in 2019 and will include 160 guestrooms, a spa, meeting space and a fitness facility.

Onyx adds two properties in Malaysia: Onyx Hospitality Group has signed management agreements for two new projects in Malaysia. Ozo Medini and Shama Medini are scheduled to open in 2018.

 


Ocean by H10 grows in Cuba: Ocean by H10 Hotels will open Ocean Casa del Mar and Ocean Vista Azul by the end of 2015. The company also has plans to open a seventh Caribbean Resort in 2016 in the Riviera Maya.
