Holiday Inn to expand in Montreal: IHG announced a new Holiday Inn will open in downtown Montreal, Canada, in the spring of 2017. The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Montreal Centre-Ville West hotel will feature 40 floors and 225 guestrooms, including 30 suites.

 


St. Regis to make Maldives debut: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced the signing of an agreement with Residency Resorts Malé Private Limited, part of the Chennai-based property developer Appaswamy Group, to debut the St. Regis brand in the Maldives. Set to open in 2016, the 77-room St. Regis Vommuli Resort, Maldives will be situated on the private Vommuli Island in the Dhaalu Atoll.

Marcus adds Nebraska property: Marcus Hotels & Resorts has been selected to manage the new Capitol District Marriott hotel under development in Omaha, Nebraska. The 333-room hotel is being developed by Shamrock Development as the anchor for the Capitol District in the city’s downtown. Marcus Hotels & Resorts also will be a minority investor in the project.

Pebblebrook buys San Francisco hotel: Pebblebrook Hotel Trust announced it has acquired The Tuscan Fisherman’s Wharf, a Best Western Plus Hotel in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf for US$122 million. The 221-room hotel will continue to be managed by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.

AHIP adds three in Florida: American Hotel Income Properties announced it has agreed to acquire through its subsidiaries a portfolio of three Marriott-branded, select-service hotels — an 87-room Residence Inn, a 96-room Fairfield Inn & Suites and a 169-room Courtyard — in Ocala, Florida, for an aggregate purchase price of US$30.8 million, excluding closing and post-acquisition adjustments.

Shangri-La files lawsuit over delayed hotel opening: Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is suing Irish contractor John Sisk & Son for £57 million (US$88.8 million) over a series of alleged failings in fitting out the interiors at the 202-room Shangri-La Hotel in the Shard, delaying its opening for approximately nine months.
