Kurdistan turning into tourist destination:  Iraq’s northern Kurdistan region saw an uptick in tourism from 800,000 visitors in 2009 to 1.3 million in 2010, according to new government data. The tourism ministry expects over five million visitors in 2015.

Germans to sell Grandhotel Petersberg:  In light of austerity measures, the German government is seeking a buyer for the 5-star, mountainside Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg, located near Bonn. The government unsuccessfully tried to sell the hotel in the 1990s.

Waldorf=Astoria applies for facelift:  The Waldorf=Astoria hotel applied for permission from the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday to alter the canopy on the hotel’s façade.
