Aman debuts new wellness program: Aman is debuting Aman Wellness, encompassing individual wellness immersions and group retreat experiences, across its collection of 30 resorts and hotels. These retreats will be headed by globally celebrated health specialists, and held at a range of Aman’s spa destinations. The first Individual Wellness Immersions will launch at Amanpuri in Phuket, Thailand, and at Amanbagh in Rajasthan, India, on August 1. Upcoming group retreats include a tennis and yoga retreats in the Caribbean, spiritual mindfulness in Bhutan, and alignment and movement in the Greek Peloponnese.

Carlson Rezidor acquires CDMS: Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group acquired full ownership of Country Development & Management Services Private Limited (CDMS), a joint venture between Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and Chanakya Hotels Private Limited. The acquisition also includes four Radisson Blu hotels managed in India by CDMS. The Country Inns & Suites By Carlson brand in India will now be managed by Carlson Hotels (South Asia) Private Limited, the Indian affiliate of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Wyndham grows in Canada: Wyndham Hotel Group announced multi-unit agreements with PHI Hotel Group to develop 25 Wingate by Wyndham hotels over the next 25 years and 15 Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotels over the next 15 years. The agreements multiply Wingate’s footprint in Canada by five times its current size and establish Hawthorn’s presence in the country.

De Niro to open London hotel: Robert De Niro will reportedly open an 83-room boutique hotel in London’s Covent Garden. The Oscar-winning actor is working with Capital & Countries and BD Hotels and submitted a planning application for the proposed hotel, which will be called The Wellington Hotel.

Jeddah rooms to double: According to a recent report by JLL, the number of hotel rooms in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is expected to double by 2018. The “Jeddah Hotel Market Overview” forecasts that the current supply of 8,600 hotel rooms will increase to an estimated 17,200 rooms with major projects in the pipeline that include: The Ritz Carlton, Jeddah; Radisson Blu Al Salamah; Movenpick City Star; Elaf Galleria and Assila Hotel & Residence by Rocco Forte.

 


Best Western adds in Texas: Best Western Hotels and Resorts added the new Beat Western Harker Heights in Texas. The 48-room hotel is owned by Mukesh Bhakta and includes an outdoor pool, business center and fitness center.
