Accor’s profits up in H1:  Accor reported a net profit of €60 million (US$79 million) for the first half of 2014, up from €34 million (US$44 million) during the same period in 2013.

New World to expand in Philippines:  New World Hotels has been appointed by New Coast Hotel to manage the 378-room Hyatt Regency Hotel & Casino Manila, effective 1 January 2015. The hotel will be rebranded as New World Manila Bay Hotel.

B&BHG to expand in NYC:  B&BHG will take over the F&B program at the 125-room Maritime Hotel. The project will encompass the spaces currently occupied by La Bottega, the lobby bar, and the Cabanas as well as room service for guests at the New York City hotel.

CMB study examines online hotel booking funnel:  New research from Chadwick Martin Bailey found that over 60% of travelers used a mobile device — 47% a smartphone — during their hotel purchase journey but only 6% booked their hotel via a smartphone and that consumer reviews trump social networks in influencing research and evaluation as well as final decisions.
