Outrigger Resorts announced the launch of OZONE (Outrigger’s ZONE), a global conservation initiative centered on coral health and resiliency in the waters surrounding the beach destinations of Outrigger Resorts.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), reefs provide up to 15 tons of seafood per square kilometer each year. However, coral faces threats including the negative impact of climate change, unsustainable fishing and land-based pollution.
As part of OZONE, Outrigger guests will have the opportunity to learn about coral via in-room videos and on-property lectures while also being part of the solution by planting coral at participating properties.
Organizations partnering with Outrigger on OZONE include NOAA, Polynesian Voyaging Society (PVS), the Waikiki Aquarium in Hawaii, Underwater World in Guam and Reef Conservation in Mauritius, among others.
