Meliá, Falcon’s Beyond launch entertainment brand

Spain’s Meliá Hotels International and Orlando, Florida-based Falcon’s Beyond are launching a leisure and entertainment-based resort brand — Falcon’s Resorts by Meliá to offer a “resortainment” experience combining premium resort services with entertainment experiences.

The resorts will be featured in Falcon’s Beyond Destinations, entertainment destinations that will be jointly developed by both companies in prime global leisure markets. As part of a larger destination experience, the venues will also offer curated dining, shopping and entertainment venues.

The brand’s first project, Falcon’s Resort by Meliá | All Suites Punta Cana, will be a multi-phase transformation of two existing Meliá properties in the Dominican Republic — Paradisus Grand Cana and The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real — with a total of 622 rooms.

The first phase will comprise an all-inclusive resort with several high-end bars and restaurants, pools, swim-up suites, a water park and a children’s camp. The property is slated to open this December and will accept reservations in October. The rebranding and transformation will see Paradisus Grand Cana getting enhanced facilities and amenities and will include an interactive platform which will be announced later on.

The second phase will see the rebranding of The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real in 2023.

Upcoming Falcon’s Beyond Destination locations are set to open in Tenerife, Canary Islands (in 2024); Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (2025); and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (opening date yet to be announced).

Falcon’s Resort by Meliá | All Suites Punta Cana is one of the three parts of Falcon’s Beyond Destination | Punta Cana, a new US$350 million entertainment destination and the debut Falcon’s Beyond Destination. The project will also include Katmandu Park | Punta Cana, a theme park that will open later this year or early 2023, and Falcon’s Central | Punta Cana, a signature retail, entertainment and dining district currently under development.

The Katmandu Park will comprise multiple patented, new technologies, interactive storytelling and mega-park-level attractions. Falcon’s Central will connect guests with brands via curated location-based entertainment venues, amenities, content, experiences, restaurants, shopping and “retailtainment.”

Both the theme park and Falcon’s Central will be accessible through Meliá’s network of area properties, consisting of 1,825 keys, and guests of other hotels in Punta Cana’s Bavaro region (42,000 additional rooms) as well as more than 43,000 local residents.

“Our partnership with Falcon’s is a tremendous opportunity to offer a distinctly different vacation experience from our competitors by incorporating immersive and interactive entertainment elements and technologies in the resort experience in ways it has never been done before,” said Vice Chairman and CEO of Meliá Gabriel Escarrer. “We are thrilled to debut our first Falcon’s Resort by Meliá in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, an exceptional location where we’ve been operating for over 30 years and have a robust network of resorts and a loyal guest base.”
