M&C to launch brand based on L.A.’s Millennium Biltmore

ABU DHABI Millennium & Copthorne Hotels PLC is launching a hotel brand based on its Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles, with the first satellite property to debut in Abu Dhabi.

Currently in the final design phase, the Abu Dhabi Biltmore is slated to open in the city’s Al Bateen area in 2013. The original Biltmore is an Art Deco icon, and the brand will stay true to the hotel’s heritage, M&C says.

“Bringing the first Biltmore hotel outside of Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi is a coup,” says Ali Lakhraim, president and CEO of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and Resorts. “The timeless elegance and glamour of the Biltmore is certain to resonate with this market. This unique brand, synonymous with exclusivity and quality, will cater to both the business and leisure market in a select few gateway cities around the world, with Abu Dhabi leading the way.”

M&C is due to add 12 new properties across its brand portfolio to its portfolio of 12 operating hotels this year, with another 40 signed management agreements in its pipeline. “Across our brands, we continue to see strong growth in the MENA region, and the addition of a new brand adds another string to our bow as we build momentum for further expansion and increase in market share,” Lakhraim says.
