Honeywell is teaming up with hospitality giant Marriott International to upgrade in-room comfort and control for guests staying in properties across Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of hotel brands.
Honeywell, a Fortune 100 company based in Charlotte, N.C., invents and manufactures technologies to address challenges linked to macro trends, like safety, security and energy. The company delivers solutions including control technologies for industry and buildings, aerospace products and services and performance materials.
Honeywell and the Marriott Design Lab will explore opportunities to test and implement innovative and personalized control offerings in guest rooms building on the Honeywell INNCOM product suite. The product suite provides guestroom automation, operational efficiency offerings and energy management.
The Honeywell INNCOM guestroom automation and energy management software and hardware solutions help hoteliers enhance the guest experience by offering proactive analytics which can help hotel owners/operators identify and resolve problems even before they affect guests.
A guest-centric approach will be taken to create improved experiences. Together with Marriott Design Lab, Honeywell will explore how a guest’s interactions with technology can impact energy and mood, predict guests’ needs, provide a proactive solution and create a more accessible and inclusive experience.
“Technology can help create a more intuitive in-room experience for guests. Imagine arriving at your hotel room after a long day of travel and it’s already adjusted to your preferred settings – from temperature, lighting and even the drapes,” said Steve Kenny, vice president and general manager of building management systems, Honeywell Building Technologies. “Together with Marriott, we have an opportunity to create a next-generation guest experience that is intuitive, engaging and authentic. We want travelers to feel like they are not just staying somewhere but have a personalized experience.”
A research and development hub, the Marriott Design Lab works on innovation and design. Located at Marriott’s new headquarters in Bethesda, Md., the Lab is a testing ground for technology-based products and services that can be integrated into daily hotel operations to cut costs, save energy, encourage customer loyalty through better experiences and ramp up operational efficiency.
“We’re looking to exceed our guests’ expectations from arrival to checkout. The guestroom experience and comfort play a significant part of that equation,” said Jeff Voris, senior vice president, global design strategies, Marriott International. “Our work with Honeywell will help us provide guests with more customized control in the guestroom that best suits their needs while providing our operators better insight into system performance metrics.”
