Larry Johnson heads fitness at The Knickerbocker

The Knickerbocker in New York has announced a partnership with Larry Johnson, former basketball player for the New York Knicks. Johnson will serve as the hotel’s fitness curator.

Johnson collaborated with The Knickerbocker and boutique fitness studio The Movement to create a fitness program for hotel guests. Fitness facilities will include treadmills and elliptical machines equipped with 15-inch (38.1-centimeter) LCD screens and iPod connectivity. Guests will also have access to group fitness classes on property, in-room workout videos and guided runs in New York City with certified fitness instructors.

“Fitness has become an essential part of our everyday lives,” said Johnson. “We’re looking to offer hotel guests personalized fitness training that is on par, if not better, than their exercise routine at home.”

“We’re committed to providing our guests with the best of everything New York has to offer,” said Jeff David, managing director of The Knickerbocker. “We’re developing a completely unique program that redefines health and wellness in the hospitality industry.”

The Knickerbocker hotel is set to reopen on February 12 following a US$240 million renovation.
