Lagerfeld to join big name designers in hotel business

Karl Lagerfeld and Macau casino operator Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) have announced plans for the Chanel designer to create his first hotel.

The 270-room Karl Lagerfeld hotel, being developed under the brand Karl Lagerfeld Greater China, will open in 2017 in a 20-story Macau tower. The Lisboa Palace complex will also include a previously announcedVersace-themed hotel.

The complex in Macau’s Cotai Strip will have casinos, restaurants and shopping and more than 2,000 hotel rooms, according to SJM, which was founded by Macau tycoon Stanley Ho.
