The Mixing Room at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live is hosting a five-week competition during May that challenges bartenders from around the city to create cocktails using selected spirits.
Chosen competitors for the “May Mix Off” will go head-to-head in two rounds of competition each week focused on a William Grant & Sons spirit. During the first round each week, competitors will present a cocktail featuring a pre-selected spirit to a panel of judges including cocktail experts and media personalities. The second round of competition features the top four competitors from round one and a spur-of-the-moment, “Iron Chef”-style challenge, where competitors will create cocktails that must utilize a mystery spirit.
Two winners from each week will advance to the May Mix Off final competition to be held May 29, which will follow the same format from previous weeks. The grand prize is a trip to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans in July.
The May Mix Off events are free and open to the public, who also will be able to purchase winning cocktails from the previous week.
