Marriott International Inc., Bethesda, Maryland, announced on Monday that it has appointed Alex Kyriakidis as president and managing director of its Middle East and Africa division.
Kyriakidis, who is fluent in Arabic and Greek in addition to English, will leave his position as global managing director for tourism, hospitality & leisure at Deloitte on January 1, 2012, to take the new position.
“Alex brings exceptional business acumen, deep expertise in lodging, and focus on growth with a global mindset. He is the perfect leader to drive and manage our growth in the region,” said Arne Sorenson, Marriott’s president and chief operating officer.
