Kimpton will rock Cleveland next year

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, San Francisco, announced on Tuesday its plans to enter the Cleveland, Ohio, market with the management of a 161-room hotel housed in an historic, adaptive reuse downtown building that is slated to open in early 2013.

CRM Real Estate is developing the boutique-style hotel in the city’s landmark Schofield Building, which was built in 1902 and served as a prominent office building for more than 100 years. The new Kimpton hotel will feature a chef-driven destination restaurant and more than 7,400 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and outdoor roof terrace. The hotel will be part of a mixed-use development that will include 25 luxury apartments on the building’s top four floors and ground floor retail.

“For us, it’s especially exciting to see the demand for the boutique concept in general spreading to more mainstream cities in the Midwest and other areas of the country outside the urban centers of New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Kimpton CEO Michael Depatie.
