Hyatt Regency to flag hotel, residences at Cap Cana resort

PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Hyatt Hotels Corp. has signed a management deal with Cobbo Bay Developers SA for Hyatt Regency Cap Cana Hotel, Villas and Residences.

Hyatt will invest in Cobbo Bay Developers, the firm that will develop and own the project in Punta Cana.

Slated to debut in 2014, the 201-key Hyatt Regency Cap Cana will be located on Juanillo Beach within the exclusive master planned resort community of Cap Cana, which will ultimately include a marina, three Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses, two beach clubs and several residential developments. In addition to the hotel, the project will also include 46 Hyatt Regency-branded residences, 12 villas and more than 1,300 ft. of beachfront.

“The development of Hyatt Regency Cap Cana represents an outstanding opportunity to further Hyatt’s expansion in the Caribbean and on rapidly growing island of the Dominican Republic, which welcomed over 4 million visitors in 2010,” says Pat McCudden, senior vice president of real estate and development in Latin America, Caribbean and Mexico for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. “Having a presence in Punta Cana will further Hyatt’s goal of becoming the most preferred brand in all the segments we serve by adding a hotel in this key resort destination where Hyatt is not currently represented.”

The hotel will feature several restaurants, a pool, a spa, a fitness center, Camp Hyatt children’s programming and more than 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting and function space.
