HOTELS Video Report: The cycle in the US

With global economic headwinds continuing to cause pressure on hotel performance and deal making activity, the hotel industry gathered at the Marriott Marquis in New York City in early June to discuss its status and near-term fate.

HOTELS interviewed numerous industry leaders at the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference to talk about their own company’s plans as well as discuss the bigger picture of where the U.S. hotel industry is in its cycle that started downward in 2008 and has been in a recovery mode that really started taking hold in 2011. While there continue to be ebbs and flows in the U.S. recovery, the outlook remains positive.

See what Paul Whetsell, president and CEO of Loews Hotels has to say about the industry outlook, what Colliers’ Hank Wolpert expects from the transaction market, as well as a more cautionary outlook from Driftwood Hospitality’s Brian Quinn.
