INDIA Directors of food and beverage in upscale and luxury hotels across India saw their median salaries grow by 43% between 2008 and 2010, almost double the increase for any other position, according to a new HVS Executive Search report.
F&B directors in India now make slightly more than 2 million rupees (US$45,000) per year—on par with executive chefs and slightly less than directors of sales and marketing and human resources directors.
India’s chief hotel engineers also saw impressive salary gains in the past two years, increasing 25% to approximately 1.8 million rupees. Still, engineers remain the lowest-paid among hotel management in India, with only executive housekeepers making less on average. General managers make the most on average, at about 3.6 million rupees.
