The 173-room Tryp New York City Times Square South marks a key milestone in Wyndham Hotel Group’s plans to introduce the Tryp by Wyndham brand in major cities throughout the Americas.

Tryp by Wyndham has made its U.S. debut with the opening of the 173-room Tryp New York City Times Square South.

The hotel, located on 35th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, is owned by Eros Management & Realty, developed by Flintlock Construction Services and managed by Wyndham Hotels Management.

Glen Coben of New York City-based Glen&Company designed the décor, which includes exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood and tile floors, wrought iron screens and colorful accents.

The lobby, dubbed Plaza Central, offers various seating areas with eclectic furniture, a library and free high-speed wireless Internet access in addition to complimentary access to Google Chrome laptops and Google televisions.

Plaza Central also houses The Gastro Bar at 35th, serving seasonal tapas menus for lunch and dinner as well as Tryp’s signature European breakfast with pastries, charcuterie and cheese. Specialty coffee drinks, draft beers, Mediterranean wines and handcrafted cocktails, including organic options, also are available.

Guestrooms include two Fitness rooms with stationary bikes and complimentary fitness attire; 23 Family rooms with more than 400 sq ft (37 sq m), bunk beds for children, living room with sleeper sofa, two flat-screen televisions and wet bar; and two Samsung Experience rooms with 55-in (140-cm) Samsung flat-screen televisions, 3D glasses, surround sound, a popcorn machine, Nintendo Wii gaming system, iPod docking station, Blu Ray player and multimedia connectivity panel.

The hotel also offers LobbyFriend, an online social network designed to allow guests to communicate with each other and hotel staff during their stay, and 1,200 sq ft (111 sq m) of function space.
