Hot Openings: New look at London’s Dorset Square

Sports will be on the minds of many in London later this month, when the Olympics open there. Although cricket has only appeared in the Olympic Games once—and that more than a century ago—that sport in particular is on the minds of guests and staff at the Dorset Square Hotel on a more frequent basis.

Some of the hotel’s 38 rooms offer views of the garden square that served as Thomas Lord’s first cricket ground.

Dorset Square Hotel has now been refurbished with co-owner Kit Kemp’s signature style throughout the Regency townhouse. The décor now features one-off and bespoke pieces, bold colors, and art from around the world.

Each bedroom has been individually designed. The property also includes a guest drawing room with a fireplace and The Potting Shed bar & restaurant.

Tim and Kit Kemp have re-acquired the property after selling it in 2002; the pair opened the Dorset Square Hotel in 1985 as the first Firmdale Hotel.
