Hot Openings: New Hotel’s design stands out

The Greek Yes! Hotels group opened New Hotel in Athens at the beginning of July and its design by Brazilian design team The Campanas has made headlines worldwide.

The 79-room boutique luxury hotel, located in central Athens features a striking, creative interior design using handmade objects and partly inspired by Greek folklore, including the evil eye, Karagiozis and even historic postcards for the rooms. The hotel restaurant “New Taste” features pieces of design team’s Favela wood chairs and is intended to be reminiscent of a Brazilian favela, the slums that ring the country’s major cities.

The hotel was formerly the Olympic Palace Hotel and retains the 1940s black marble staircase.
