Hilton Worldwide to open five properties in Mexico this year

MEXICO Hilton Worldwide plans to open seven hotels in Mexico within the next 12 months, including five before the end of this year.

The company plans to open a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Tuxtla Gutierrez, three DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Queretaro, Merida and Mexico City, and a Hampton Inn by Hilton property in Ciudad del Carmen. Early in 2012, a Hampton Inn by Hilton hotel in Guadalajara and a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton property in Los Cabos are expected to debut.

Hilton made the announcement last week during the company’s sixth annual development forum in Mexico City. The company has an additional five approved deals in Puerto Vallarta, Saltillo, Toluca, Zacatecas and Queretaro, which are scheduled to open by the end of 2012. Those openings will bring Hilton’s Mexico portfolio to 34, from 22 hotels and resorts currently.

“We are witnessing great momentum in development efforts in Mexico, and we are committed to continue expanding our footprint throughout the country,” says Danny Hughes, Hilton’s senior vice president for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America. “Mexico offers great growth potential, and we are proud to share our success story in this thriving destination.”

Hilton is committed to eventually introducing all of its brands to Mexico.
