Hilton Hotels hires ‘Pavement Picasso’ to create chalk murals

SINGAPORE Hilton Hotels & Resorts has commissioned renowned British pavement artist Julian Beever to create a chalk mural of a Hilton property on the floor of Singapore’s largest retail and lifestyle destination, VivoCity.

The 4-m by 5-m (13-ft. by 15-ft.) mural is on display all week. Beever’s artwork is part of Hilton’s “Stay Hilton, Go Everywhere” campaign to highlight its extensive portfolio of more than 540 properties in 76 countries.

Using the floor as his canvas, Beever is creating a large chalk mural of a Hilton property in his signature, three-dimensional style. The artwork will be an illusion that distorts the perception of space and depth when viewed from a specific vantage point.

Next week, Beever will travel to Australia to draw another Hilton property on the walkways along Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall.

“The interactive, engaging format of this event is reflective of the stylish and contemporary essence of Hilton Hotels & Resorts,” says Dave Horton, global head of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. “Julian’s ability to produce such impressive works of art with a unique viewpoint mirrors the fresh perspectives that we aim to provide with the Hilton brand. By expressing the brand in such an innovative and refreshing way, we hope to showcase our global offerings and capture the imagination of today’s savvy travelers.”

Shoppers can watch the artist in action and get a chance to win a fantastic ski and stay accommodation package for two at Hilton Niseko Village in Hokkaido, Japan, if they correctly guess the featured property and sign up as Hilton HHonors members.

Beever began work on the mural on Monday and is scheduled to complete the work on Friday. The finished artwork will remain for public viewing until Sunday.
