Gemstone to manage Boston’s Copley Square

Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, Park City, Utah, announced on Tuesday that it has assumed management of the Copley Square Hotel, located in Boston.

Originally built in 1912, the 143-room hotel recently completed a US$20 renovation, which included new elevators and HVAC as well as a makeover of the guestrooms, food and beverage facilities and public spaces. Previous guests at the hotel include U.S. President William McKinley, baseball players Babe Ruth and Ted Williams as well as musicians Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington.

“The Copley is the third property added to our portfolio in the past five months and is emblematic of the type of property we seek to manage or acquire,” said Jeff McIntyre, Gemstone principal.
