French hotel performance strong in November

The French hotel industry, particularly 4- and 5-star properties, performed well in November, according to a report from In Extenso.

Hotels in the 4- and 5-star category in November posted a 15.7% jump in RevPAR, to US$184 (141 euro), in addition to a 6% increase in occupancy — to 63.2% — and a 9.2% rise in ADR, to US$292 (224 euro).

In Extenso highlighted a strong monthly showing for hotels in Paris, where RevPAR rose by an average of 13% and occupancy rates exceeded 79% in all categories. The report also noted encouraging results in the Cote d’Azur, Monaco, Montpellier, Strasburg, Toulouse and Nancy, thanks largely to a full MICE calendar.

November was more difficult for hoteliers in Grenoble, Lyon, Metz, Nantes, Reims and Rennes, In Extenso said, with the midscale segment especially hard hit by both occupancy drops and a decline in average rates.
