Fattal to reflag 2 Leonardo Plaza hotels as Herods Palace

ISRAEL Fattal Hotel Management Ltd. is turning its famed Herods Palace Hotel in Eilat into a luxury brand.

The company plans to turn a pair of Leonardo Plaza properties into Herods Palaces, starting with a US$16.5 million renovation of Leonardo Plaza Tel Aviv. A US$100 million renovation will follow at Leonardo Plaza Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Globes reports.

The 330-key Herods Palace Hotel Tel Aviv will be themed around the concept of “Tel Aviv of yore,” with décor and staff uniforms authentic to the 1930s.

Fattal owns a half-stake in the original Herods Palace Hotel Eilat, acquired in the purchase of Azorim Tourism Ltd. last year. Company owner David Fattal plans to make Herods Palace the group’s flagship brand.

Fattal is the 76th largest hotel company in the world, according to the 2010 edition of HOTELS’ 325, the annual ranking of the world’s hotel companies that appears in this month’s issue.
