New figures from Trivago show rates at hotels across Europe have shot up this month by an average of 19% from August.
The biggest increases were found in Brussels where average rate increased 67% to US$204 (€150), Barcelona, Spain where rate increased 48% to US$240 (€176), Rome where rate increased 44% to US$220 (€161) and Venice, Italy where rate increased 43% to US$383 (€281).
The only major European destination to see a decline was Edinburgh, Scotland, where rates dropped 33% to US$144 (£126).
