Disney unveils details for 1,120-key animation-themed resort

ORLANDO Disney Parks & Resorts has unveiled new details about its recently announced Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which will draw its inspiration from four Disney animated films: “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Finding Nemo” and “Cars.”

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be located near Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The 1,120-key family-friendly resort is scheduled to open in summer 2012.

Each of the Art of Animation Resort buildings are being designed to make guests feel like they are part of the animated films, tracing each movie’s theme from the playful courtyards to the festive guestroom interiors.

The largest of the buildings, an 864-key hotel themed for “The Little Mermaid,” will be sea-inspired and will be priced for value-conscious travelers.

The other three hotel buildings will exclusively feature family suites able to accommodate up to six guests. The family suites will have two separate bathrooms, a master bedroom and three additional sleeping areas.

Each hotel will have a themed courtyard with icons and sculptures to interact with. The resort will feature a main pool with a bar and two additional quiet pool areas.
